BOUDOIR SHOOT

FROM £99

Curvy & Plus Size women notice that the confidence they get from having a boudoir shoot stays with them after, allowing them to feel more powerful because they have pushed themselves out of their comfort zone. Pushing your boundaries allows you to see how strong you are, which leads you onto other challenges in life.

Sometimes we as women lose how sexy we feel in our day to day lives of kids, stress and work. We have a lot to deal with especially from the media, so many women are left drowning in self doubt.

And this is where a plus size boudoir photography shoot can help. None of us are perfect, we are all unique with our own flaws. I’m forever hearing “I will have a shoot when I lose weight”, I’m not shooting your weight, I’m photographing the beautiful person that you are, at this stage of your life. I notice mothers beating themselves up because they can’t accept their ever changing bodies.

I see the young girls being sucked in by the media with false expectations of how they should look. I notice women in their 40’s and 50’s scared to grow older and comparing themselves to young girls, it’s crazy! We are all at different stages of life, we need to appreciate where we have been and who we are, live in the present and be kind to ourselves.

Just celebrate being you, just as you are, because we are all beautiful! And join us on a boudoir photo shoot in our Hull, Leeds or Sheffield studio.

*Your boudoir photo shoot package is subject to a £25 non-refundable booking deposit.

What is Boudoir Photography?
A boudoir is a woman’s bedroom, or more specifically a private sitting room, and comes from the French word Bouder (to sulk). In early photography, boudoirs were used as studio’s for sexualised shoots of the female form, which still influences modern boudoir photoshoots to this day.

Add in a mix of 20th Century fuller-figure pin-up girls like Mae West, Bettie Page, Marilyn Monroe or Betty Grable and some style inspiration from Hollywood culture, and the occasional burlesque influence (think Dita Von Teese) and there you have erotic photography in the boudoir studio.

Boudoir style photography is not the same as a glamour photoshoot, often it is for private enjoyment only and uses sexuality to boost confidence and self expression. It is often more suggestive than nudity, using lingerie or props as required to cover modesty. They can be racy, erotic, edgy, nude or alternative based on the models preference.

While traditional aimed at women, men are also welcome. In recent year couples boudoir photography sessions have gained popularity. Common bookings are also for plus size, over 40’s and pre wedding bridal boudoir photography.

How to prepare for your boudoir photography session
You may want to have a manicure and pedicure pre-booking, but we would always suggest that for at least 1-2 days before the shoot you do not have a facial or wax. The irritation could cause redness or blotchiness which could cause self-consciousness. We also advise you to drink a lot of water beforehand to make that skin glow.

As part of your package, you will be greeted with a glass of fizz to help settle any nerves, but we would not suggest alcohol consumption prior to the booking. Our shoots include tea and coffee but you may want to bring some additional refreshments with you.

We also provide a professional makeover with makeup artists and hairstylists, so you do not need to do your own hair and makeup unless you want to. Our experts will help with your styling to ensure the end result is classy, empowering and flattering.

We include professional photo editing to show you the finished pictures on the day, and we are confident we will produce beautiful pictures of your boudoir session.

You can arrive in your normal attire and bring your choice of outfits with you.

What to wear for a boudoir photoshoot?
The Boudoir shoot package includes 3 outfit changes, and the style of these is up to you although our experts will be on hand to give guidance. We always recommend these are well fitting.

We would always recommend you bring the clothes that make you exude confidence and flatter your body shape. The shoot is of course personal to you, and your choice of outfits may vary is a maternity or bride shoot. We would normally suggest you consider the following:

  • One-piece set: Shapewear, Fitted slip dress, bodysuit or teddy nightie
  • Two-piece set: Matching bra and underwear, stockings and bra set, or high waisted skirt and bra combination.
  • A coverup, wrap or shawl, or perhaps even a large shirt.
  • Shoes including high heels if they give you extra confidence.
  • Accessories like jewellery or pearls.
